There are many reasons families like to have a wireless nanny cam in their home. The main reason is because you just would feel better if you knew how your children were being treated by a caregiver when you're not there.
Sometimes our kids can whine and complain about a babysitter or nanny. You just don't know the real facts of what's happening because both sides have a reasonable story to tell. You probably feel like you've done your due diligence on checking out a nanny or sitter, but you just never know.
I had a sitter try to pick the lock on my bedroom door one time and she tried to make my 6 year old daughter stay quiet about it. This was some time ago and nanny cams weren't available - especially the easy to use ones that you can get today. They are cleverly disguised as everyday objects like clocks and ipod charging stations. Even if you told someone there was a hidden camera in the room, they'd probably never find it.
They're also really easy to use - you just take them out of the box and turn them on. Even I can manage that. They record on a little SD card just like my digital camera uses. I put it into my computer and watch what happened while I was out. Easy-peasy...
